I have a portrait of writer ER Bills for Michael Barajas’ Where the Bodies Are Buried in the July / August issue of the Texas Observer. “In 1910, East Texas saw one of America’s deadliest post-Reconstruction racial purges. One survivor’s descendants have waged an uphill battle for generations to unearth that violent past.”
Installation shots from Rockport at Spellerberg Projects (open May through July 2019)
Ordinary Time is new a group of photographs in which ordinary subjects—a rose vine climbing along an old wooden fence; a young man exhaling from a cigarette; a loose tangle of electrical cable overhead—in their simplicity, in their disquiet, in their wistfulness, become “stations” or halting-places for contemplating the transcendent.
